A group rallied at the Capitol, putting blame on sweatshops. The sweat-free communities organization united with other elected officials, religious leaders and human rights groups in an effort to inform the community about unjust labor laws. The gathering was due to a recently-released study which states Michigan is inadvertently using taxpayer's money to purchase public employee uniforms from sweatshops.
Victoria Kaplan, sweat free communities: "The sweat-free Michigan campaign is calling on the governor to improve worker conditions so that we no longer see things like child labor, 15-hour work days."
Sweat free communities says they hope Governor Granholm took notice of the rally and will now take action.
